  • Develop corrective action strategies in conjunction with yard managers to correct deficiencies identified during audits.
  • Conduct follow up inspections and meetings with yard managers to discuss progress of audit deficiencies.
  • Act as a resource for yard managers and other PSC Metals employees in responding to HSE and Loss Risk-related questions and develop solid working relationship with yard managers and supervisors.
  • Educate (train) yard staff (including employees) of the various internal (company policies) and external (local, state and federal regulations) EHS requirements that are applicable. Assure that all staff understands the potential penalties for non-compliance.
  • Monitor periodicals and industry publications to develop an understanding of the changing regulatory climate. Communicate new regulatory changes that will affect PSC Metals.
  • Interact with Human Resources in the administrative aspects of Worker’s Compensation as needed.

To qualify, the ideal candidate will have the following combination of education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or equivalent with 3-5 years related experience in a compliance role. Certifications (CHMM, CSP) a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA (specifically air, stormwater and hazardous waste) and DOT regulations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills must be able to interact with all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent customer focus and must be committed to compliance.
